7/4/23 – Unnamed trails in WIlliamsburg MA

We had a really happy day today exploring trails that were new to us, in the great company of our two good dogs, Livvey and Cash. Lots of single file trails through hemlock and oak and mountain laurel and plenty of big rocks for fun climbing. Only one other hiker on those trails today and she befriended Cash and Livvey who were both happy for her attention. It was a good day for a group photo. We explored an old cellar hole for a while – they always fascinate us. That’s Joe Zadroga down in it. And the excitement!! There was a colony of Rattlesnake Plaintain in bloom such as we’ve never seen before. I hope you can see their long stalks snd flower heads. This photo only shows a section of that colony!! The forest abuts new hiker Bob’s place and we roamed in his big yard and admired his wonderful gardens. He and his dog Cash are a fine addition to our group. We ate apples from his tree and they were really good. Lunch at Gwen’s house with good conversation and a huge watermelon from Nancy. Can it really be August already??? Wow! XO Penny {CAPTION}
