3/27/25 – Ashfield MA Trail System

Great weather for hiking. But my camera battery had no charge, so I missed taking photos. Lissa sent me this one of us going over a large (tilting) bridge so I could send you something. The trails were varied: from single file to 4 abreast. Climbing and descending. No signs of spring other than that the snow was almost gone, just some icy patches remained in very shaded areas. Wind, but not sharp. Nearly 4 miles through woods with old stone walls, and signage showing where a fort once stood (1773), also one for the first gristmill in the area (1736) down by the Bear River. We were all really sorry to come to the trail end, but then off we went to Ashfield Country Pie followed by a little jaunt into Ashfield Hardware for ice cream cones. Snows ice cream, $1.00 per cone, always 4 different flavors!! Today was vanilla, mint chip, strawberry, or chocolate. Strawberry seemed to be our favorite today. The women in there are aways happy to see us. And for sure we are always happy to see them too. Hooray for these longer days!! Penny {CAPTION}
