11/6/25 – Stump Sprouts X-Country Ski Area, Hawley MA

We’ve been hoping to get back to Stump Sprouts for quite a long time, and today we finally got there. At its 2000 ft rustic elevation it offers cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and a long view into Vermont at the end of the Lone Boulder trail. We started out on a trail new to us and ended up at that long view we’ve always loved. Our very spirited fun filled hike was 3.3 miles, temperature in high 40s, and just as we were getting back to our cars we experienced the first snow of the season!! It came and went quickly, leaving us very excited! Owner Lloyd Crawford, a friend of Tony, opened up the lodge and came in to welcome us. It was the perfect place for us ,so full of good memories! Time to go to the attic and get bring down your winter clothes!! With love, Penny
