Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

1/22/15 – Notchview XCountry Ski Area, Windsor MA

28 degrees, no wind, no sun, a little icy and crunchy, but another great day out on the trails for a three hour hike. Some open old pasture areas, some beautiful wooded trails, and no one out there but us. We headed to Notch View where the elevation is 2000 feet and where we expected to find pretty good snow, and so we did. We snowshoers are welcome at Notch View if we stay off the cross country tracks, and so we always do.
How many hikers – or are those Hobbits? – can you find hiding in the tree roots? As it was Elaine’s birthday, we opted for all the silliness we could drum up.
Getting down some of the icy steeper places presented challenges, but everyone made it down with style and hutzpah, and the beauty of the icy streams was a marvelous reward for our efforts. Lunch at the Cummington Creamery once again. I had Thai Peanut Chili, others had Foccacio with caramelized onions, other sandwiches and soups, and tons of ice water. We celebrated Elaine with the Chocolate Raspberry cake, a Creamery confection not to be missed. Stay healthy and happy and warm, Love, Penny {CAPTION}
